I haven't had much sleep of late, I have to leave for work in about 20 minutes, and I'm kind of making this up as I go, so, as Prince said, forgive me if it goes astray...
I've been looking at printers. In particular one off-set printer which was recommended to me by Frank Cvetkovic - Printninja
I've never really done an off-set run on a book before, never really had to. I've always managed to get by with small print on demand runs.
The prices look good, the sample pack, which I received today looks good, so maybe it's time to take the plunge?
Department O issue two should be ready to go in a couple of months, so perhaps I should be looking to save up to make this the one to do a good print run on?
It's also got me thinking about the possibility of perhaps trying to get issue one into diamond.
I'm currently trying to get as many of the wip books on my slate done and ready to go (I have five in good stages of post-production, and two more joining them soon). If I do go off-set it would slow this down, but perhaps it would open up some new options for me.
My only up and coming show is Long Beach, so as long as I have some new books for then, I should be okay to slow down for the rest of the year.
If I do go ahead with this, I will be doing a series of posts on the entire process, very frank and open, hopefully giving some advice or pointers to others out there.
Lots to think about...
